Tula

We will visit the Archaeological Site of Tula, seat of the Toltec Empire. Formed by a set of buildings with a deep religious symbolism as the Central Altar, the Coatepantli or Serpent Wall, the Burnt Palace, the Ball Games and the Tzomantli besides the impressive Atlantes with human figure worked in basaltic stone and with a height of 4.80 meters. In this city, the main political power of the valleys of Mexico and Puebla-Tlaxcala was established between the X and XII centuries of our era. Its influence reached places as distant as the Peninsula of Yucatan, El Salvador and Nicaragua.

Tepotzotlán

Otomies, Chichimecas and Mexicas inhabited Tepotzotlán until the arrival of the Spaniards which evangelization were in charge of the Franciscans and after the Jesuits. During the time of the Jesuits was founded a novitiate and began the colossal construction of different buildings that housed the School of San Francisco Javier and that today is the seat of the Museum of the Viceroyalty. Here we can see the largest collection of objects from the colonial era, paintings that describe the history of San Ignacio de Loyola, multiple objects of religious use, armors, furniture, gardens, cloisters, chapels, fountains and an impressive library with more than 4,000 copies, among other wonders.

In addition, it is important to mention that the façade of the Church of San Francisco Javier is considered the most outstanding work of churrigueresque style in Mexico.
